Pro: Used vegetable oil is CHEAP (try free).
Con: It contains Glycerine, which can CLOG the engine.
Both are true. There are 2 ways around this. Have 2 tanks in your vehicle, with a valve that lets you select a tank. One tank contains commercial #2 diesel. The other contains the used oil (after it has settled for 1 to 2 months). Start the engine on the commercial tank. When the engine reaches operating temperature, switch to the used oil tank. At operating temperature, the engine can handle the glycerine.
The other method is to "convert" the used oil. I have no idea what that entails. I only know that it costs from $200 and up. Converted oil eliminates the need to have commercial fuel for warm up. Google "biodiesel" and I'm sure you will find a site that describes the conversion process.
