Shocking my fish in my pond?

I got a invertor from dc to ac power. Gonna run it off my boat motor and gonna cut a extension cord and drop it in. Is this ok? Trying to check my fish. Looked for a old telephone but yea no where to be at the price I want to pay. And a gamewarden machine wow 1 to 2 grand thats way out of my price range. How well do you think this will work and if you could give some advice thanks.

I would not attempt to set up a rig like this on your own. This is dangerous stuff, and people should be professionally trained before building an electrofishing rig. Not to mention, once you get a rig like this set up, it takes quite a bit of fine-tuning, which also requires an in-depth knowledge of what is going on (tweaking volts and amps to shock effectively). If you simply run electrical wires into the water you are bound to have problems. Electrofishing rigs should have some sort of control over how much power they are using. That is why they have the expensive boxes in them. They make it easy to control how many volts/amps you are using, whether you are using ac, dc, pulsed dc, etc. Electrofishing rigs should also have good safety systems. That is a must! Setting up an electrofishing rig without safety pedals for both netters, and a kill switch for the driver, is a disaster waiting to happen. In most states that I know of, you can get a state fish biologist to come out and shock the fish in your pond for next to nothing, if not free. If state biologists don’t have the time or money to do it, try a nearby University that has a fisheries program. I know of at least one University program that will come out, sample your pond, and write up a nice, thorough, easy to understand report in order to help improve the fish community in your pond. If neither of these options work, look for a private fish management consulting company. Trust me, it is well worth paying someone to do it. It will be cheaper than trying to make a safe and effective rig yourself, plus they know what they are doing and can help you transform you pond into a great fishing hole that meets your personal preferences.
