Can solar panels catch any energy from the sunlight reaching under the surface of oceans or rivers?
I ask because I kind of wonder if small submarines could be powered by sunlight with surfacing.
I think it would be great seeing single-occupant submersibles made commercially available that could be powered by light reaching them within the euphotic zone.
Solar light do not penetrate very deep in water, therefore the efficiency of any solar panel would be extremely low. This means bigger panels, and extra cost.
Moreover, even if I cannot give you a precise estimate of the power consumption of a submarine, it is likely to be much higher than a car. And solar cars are, at the moment, quite unpractical.
They would need huge solar panels.

How many kWh will a 224 watt, 20 volt solar panel produce in one day?
I'm looking into buying some solar panels. I've found this SharpND-22441F solar panel that is 224 watts and 20 volts. I want to know how much energy it will produce on a given day. I live in Kansas City and found that our peak sunlight hrs average is 4.73 hrs/day.

1059.5 watt hours or 1.0595 kWh.

E= P*t (Power multiplied time = watt hours if power is in watts and time in hours.
E=224*4.73
=1059.5 Watt hours.
1059.5/1000=
1.0595 kWh.
Notice that the voltage is already a component of the power. That is, P=EI. (Where I is current in amperes.) The voltage is only important if you're trying to run some device at the solar cell voltage or, say charge a battery. Normally you would have an electrical device between the solar cell and the driven device(s) to convert the solar cell output to the type (AC maybe for a driven device or a lower voltage to charge a battery.) and voltage necessary for the driven device.
