How large of a solar system would I need to run 600 watts for 12 hours? Any ideas on how much it would cost to build one? Thanks.
To get 600 watts, you need at least a 600 watt solar array. The output goes down when the sun is not directly perpendicular to the array, so you probably need a 1000 watt unit, or perhaps higher.
If you want 600 watts continuously for 12 hours, you need to be in a location where you get 12 hours of sun per day.
You can't build solar arrays, you have to buy them, as they require a complicated factory and chemicals in their construction.

At night when your system is not producing electricity, you draw off the credit you have accumulated during the day. Your goal is to become "net zero" meaning you consume as much as you produce.

The first thing you have to submit is a copy of your electric bill. Why? So they know what your normal consumption is. The utility company is not going to send you checks for lots of money because you put a solar farm in your back yard.
But your state might have a form of solar renewable energy credit. You would get a credit for every megawatt hour of electric you produce. Now depending on your state, those credits are worth a lot of money. That's where the source of income/pay back time comes from.
