solar power installer Frequently Asked Questions

desperate plz help.................short?

An installer puts an Ultraviolet absorbing film over the solar cells (the film absorb below 300 nm). Will this have a large effect on the electrical power generated by these cells? Explain.

Most conventional solar cells use visible and infrared light to generate electricity. The article below should explain all you need to know about solar cells. This looks like some kind of assignment question which means it might be somewhat out of date. The link details recent success in producing solar cells which operate at the ultraviolet end of the spectrum, so if this is the case then a filter would cripple the performance. If not, then depending on the bandwidth of the filter (film), it will affect the efficiency of the solar cells less. There is also a newer breakthrough in solar cells which use multiple band-gap materials which are effective across a wider range of frequencies. Again, if the filter imposes on any of these energies, then the solar cell will be reduced in performance, if not, then it will not be significantly affected. If this is an out-dated question which assumes that the cell operates at visible and infra-red wavelengths, then the "correct" answer is probably that the UV filter will not significantly affect the performance. (Although all films will have some infra-red blocking properties too).

I am also a little bit suspicious of the way that the question is posed, "(the film absorb below 300 nm)" - This is referring to nm which is nano-meters. When you say "below" 300 nm is this supposed to mean shorter or longer wavelengths? I suspect it means shorter otherwise it would block visible light too, so it would block 280 nm, 200 nm etc.

Could I have a solar photovoltaic system, solar hot water and heat or the small wind turbine, to suck or good?

Do you think you can not afford it? Have you ever seen vidoes photovoltaic solar electricity and how easy it is to get this place. Have you in the local budgets? Small Wind turbines on roofs. Just another simple maintenance, no equipment, to live the roof of a parable, but the solar panels on your roof. patches right on your electricity company and the company buys electricity excess energy during the day. Reimbursements, it will be very affordable. Get three quotes in your area. Investigate energy solar, solar hot water, small wind turbines, photovoltaic panels are guaranteed for 25 years. This is a price savings in the long term but as a place to save and salvage. I do not know if it sucks or is good, unless you have studied the issue. Many are surprised voltage rises to colder temperatures. So you do not have to be in the AC advantage. also creates jobs for installers and manufacturers, etc. give the issue a chance, though, what do you think?

Peace're law. There are several ways to dispose of small systems and even more smaller systems. There is nothing better than the sale of energy to the system ...
