Are there any grants for converting homes and or swimming pools to solar energy?
my pool is heated by gas.I cannot afford to heat the pool with the price of gas. also I would like convert the houses to solar energy.

You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.
Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants -- all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently. But still the info is the same - hardly any grants for starting a for profit business.
Note, however, that hardly any federal grant exist to help people start a business or for personal needs - unlike what some people perpetuate.

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online. It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) but their opening blurb only says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I take it they also don't have listings of private foundations who give grants to would-be entrepreneurs.
How much $ does it cost for a gas bill to use an underground pool in WI?
I'm buying a home in SE Wisconsin that has an underground pool. (Something like 14' x 30' give or take a few feet either way) It has a solar cover (which I plan to use) but also has a gas line running to it to heat the pool.
A bud of mine just told me that someone he knows runs an inground pool and the gas bill is like $1,000 a month.
That sounds insane. Is it true? Could it cost that much to heat a pool for a month?
Anyone have experience with this?
I"m not looking for exact cost, but ballpark figures could help out.
Hi, there. You can request the utility information from the seller's (I am surprised your realtor did not suggest it). Heating would depend on many things...aside from size there is the age and efficiency of the heater. Perhaps a pool service shop could give you a better ball park answer. But for ACTUAL, for that home you have the right to get the information from the sellers.
