what is the advantage and disadvantage for solar energy?
The primary advantage is it does not produce CO2 and other pollutants.
The Disadvantages:
1. Initial cost is much higher. Payback for the average is 15-20 years.
2. Unreliable – Only produces when sun shines
3. Area required – Very large area required relative to conventional
4. Depreciating efficiency – Panels degrade with time.
Wind has almost the same disadvantages, except depends on wind blowing.
In my opinion, Nuclear is a better option. No CO2, smaller footprint, Reliable 24/7 source of power. Wind and solar are great, but are limited to supplemental source only in areas that are practical for the type.
