Hi Millza, you've selected a very interesting subject, but there is a great deal you can learn about wind power. We have a home that is powered by the wind and sun, it has been for almost 10 years now. Our windmill, called a, "Wind Turbine," today, is small even for a home sized unit. It's maximum output is 900 watts, which is used to charge a large 24 volt battery. The battery power is sent through a device called an, "inverter," which converts it to household AC 120 volt power. In the summer, our solar panels do almost all the work, and the wind turbine is generally turned off. But in the fall and winter, we have lots of wind and very little sun. Our little turbine can just barely run the house by itself on a windy night, and some times we have to buy a little power from the power company, but that is okay. Our turbine is just a little larger than a ceiling fan, about 7 feet in diameter.
I understand you shouldn't use wikipedia. Wikipedia is a very interesting website, but some people do not approve of it because much of the information there is posted by people like you and me, and even though we may be very knowledgeable in some areas, there is some information at Wikipedia that is not correct. For information on wind power, I would suggest two places. If you can use a computer, there is a non profit group called the, "American Wind Energy Association." They have fantastic articles and educational information for people just like you, and the people that work there and post the information are experts and scientists. If you are not allowed to use the computer, you should go to your local library, there are several good books about wind power. One I like is, "Wind Power for the Home and Business," by Paul Gipe. If you can find anything written by Mick Sagrillo, it will be good information as well. Mick has been building wind turbines for over 30 years, and he regularly teaches classes on wind power in Wisconsin.
Good luck on your school project, read everything you can and learn as much as you can about this great renewable energy source. We did, and we have been thankful for it ever since. Take care, Rudydoo
idea for implementing renewable energy?
The government buys the major oil companies. Then uses the massive profits they are currently amassing to implement renewable energy sources(wind, hydroelectric, solar, etc.). Good idea?
On the surface, but what about all the stockholders in these companies? do you deprive them of their income? Many will be retired people depending on the income from these shares or bonds to live on.
The "massive profits" do not go to the directors of the companies (although they do get some), they go to the shareholders, and for development of new sources of oil.
But are there actually "massive profits"? I believe most of the money goes to the large oil producing countries like Saudi Arabia. Look up the average income for those countries.
