Where can I get an adapter to plug a cigar-lighter plug into a home outlet?
I got a gps unit for christmas. It has an internal battery, but for some reason I can only charge it using the car power plug.
I've tried connecting it to my computer, as well as using the charger from my razr phone (mini-usb plug), and neither work.
I know they sell inverters that allow you to plug a 2/3-prong plug into a car cigar-lighter power port. Do they make the opposite of that (plug a cigar-style plug into a home power outlet).
If so, how much do they cost, and where can I get one?
What you need is a 12 volt DC power supply. I think that Radio Shack would be a good place to start looking.

I'm looking to buy an inverter for my car so I can use the car's cigarette lighter to power my laptop/cell. I'm not too familiar with watts, but this Belkin FL5011 seems like it will do the trick (http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F5L011-Vehicle-Power-Inverter/dp/tech-data/B000VSYACK/ref=de_a_smtd). It says it will provide 69 watts of power. Will that be enough for a mini/netbook laptop (Dell Mini 9). I've read horror stories of cars lighting up in flames, because the device was pulling too much power. I don't want any trouble- I just want my laptop to function. Thanks.

I was reading the power plug details of my Mini 9 and it says that the output to my Mini is 19V. Would that mean I need more than 69W inverter? Say 110? Would 110W inverter be too much for the cigarettle lighter to handle? I really don't need any trouble form this thing! Thanks in advance for your help.
At it's rated power it will draw 5.75 Amps from your car's cigarette lighter.
69watts/12volts=5.75amps.
Most lighters are fused for 10 amps so you should be ok with that part. You still have to determine if your computer draws more than 69 watts.
