I look for these lights every year, but can't find them. Okay, at Home Depot they have an artificial tree on display with the purest, most piercing colors. Specifically, the gamut in this set includes purple and blue. After some searching, I have found that the model on display is the following:
Sylvania 7 Ft. Pre-Lit Augusta Pine Tree with 300 Multi-Color LED M5 Lights

I've tried a set of the Sylvania multi-colored LED with similar shaped bulbs as on their tree, but the colors are wrong (i.e. too much yellow and red and not enough on the blue/ purple end). Is this a case of a manufacturer making sure no real tree looks as good as their fake tree?
My old graphics card fried, so I RMA'd it. I put the new one in, and the same exact problem occurred (artifacts on the screen) after about a day. The manufacturer will not accept a second RMA, so I must buy a new graphics card.
I am led to believe that the problem is my power supply, so I replaced that with an extra I had sitting around.
Is it possible that the motherboard was actually the problem and fried my graphics card? I don't want to put a brand new graphics card in and fry that one as well.
Unfortunately, I do not have another card at my disposal for testing purposes.

The card is an nvidia geforce 8800gts, which is pci-e. I'm positive I was connecting the correct pin (6). At this point, I'm probably going to give one last attempt and try the oven trick. If that doesn't work, I'm going to go for it and get another card.

i find it hard to believe the manufacturer won't issue a second rma. what manufacturer is this?
the motherboard or power supply could be causing issues of frying, however i find it hard to believe artifacts would be the cause of such an issue. artifacts are usually caused by bad video memory. fried cards would have to have a short and would likely not work at all.
you could always try another graphics card and see if this problem occurs, but then you risk that card if in the rare case it is your motherboard or power supply.
in any event, contact the manufacturer again. no company should not back the customer 100%.
