I have 6 sets of LED icicle lights, they are two years old. Five of the sets work great but half the 6th set is really dull and flashes in and out. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem and how it might be fixed. I have looked for a new set but can not find the same kind.

I think leds are great as well, and they have worked good untill now. Just half of one set is acting up. I just want to know what the problem might be with this one set and how it might be fixed
No, some old ones might be, but many people are changing it to LED for environmental reasons. I don't think they blink or are dull, I think LED lights are blighter and its more "vivid" than normal lights.
I also heard this story where someone's house burned down because one of their light bulb cracked and the white fluffy cotton things that they use to mimic snow caught on fire...
I think LED lights are great, but I guess its your opinion.
LED vs regular Christmas lights?
I know that the advantages of LED vs regular Christmas lights (less energy, last longer, cooler), but at $10 vs $3 / strand, it makes it hard to make the jump, since I would have to buy like 4-5 strands for the tree and another 3-4 for outside and then the icicle lights too.
How long would it take me (figure 5 hrs nightly for 30 day) to be cost effective for the LED vs the small lights, not the screw ins?

Think about it this way: with LEDs you aren't going to need to buy more stands anytime soon because their burn out rate is way lower than incandescents, and they have up to a 200,000hr bulb life (those are lights that will last you forever). You'll save a ton of money on your power bill because they consume so much less energy.
