We subsidize oil companies with tax breaks, why can’t we do the same with hybrid car manufacturers?
‘m just curious. We give billion of dollars in tax breaks to big oil companies and it helps keep the price of oil down (or so I’m told).
Why don’t we give the same tax breaks to auto manufacturers building hybrid cars? Seeing as the auto manufacturing industry is hurting so much already, it couldn’t hurt. And wouldn’t that even create some new jobs?
That Guy, no need to be an a**hole, I actually did plenty of research and the only thing I found was a consumer tax credit and a statewide policy that was enacted in CA a month ago. Since you’re so in the know, can you link me to your source?
They do it on the other end. There was (not sure there still is) a tax credit for purchasing a hybrid or electric car, meaning you could just subtract $2,000 from your tax bill because you were nice enough to buy a hybrid. That’s better than just giving money to Toyota or Chevrolet.
