Assembling Hybrid car batteries= driving a Hummer 300,000 miles?
I heard that just assembling the batteries in a Toyota Prius emits more pollution than assembling a Hummer H2 and driving it for 300,000 miles. My friend told me that a person is wrong for buying a Pruis if you're price or/and pollution concious. My friend also said that it takes about 23 years for a person to actually save money on gas on a pruis because of the pruis' high price.
Considering that a Prius is roughly the same size of a Dodge Neon and yet costs twice as much, i dont see how anyone thinks they are saving money by buying one. Any savings on fuel will be more than ate up in your monthly car payment.
At what gas price is it financially worthwhile to buy a hybrid card?
I hear that hybrid cars end up costing more for both the initial cost as well as upkeep because you have to keep switching out the ridiculously expensive batteries. If gas prices get to around $5 per gallon does it start to become financially worthwhile to buy a hybrid?
