Energy Conservation Program via Satellite from the U.K. Now if only I could find it again, online maybe?
About two years ago I was at Penn State University (Fayette Campus!) and I watched a program via satellite from the United Kingdom. The theme of this wonderful program was energy conservation, preventing global warming, and the like. I remember many posh accents, a very cool rock star that lived in the most eco-friendly house (to save water, he said, he'd "shower with the ladies.") I also remember that the original program was set up for a bunch of British students in uniform.
Does anyone know what program this is? Or even if you know of any British rockstars with green houses and golden toilets, it would be nice if you informed me. I have been searching for this program and this rocker for a while, but obviously I am out of luck since I hardly remember the important details of it.
Oh, I do remember that the rockstar looked a lot like Protazoa from the Disney Zenon movies. That's an embarassing fact; but if it helps I'm glad.

How "green" is the Cash for Clunkers program?
The cars which will be turned in will be crushed, and people will buy new cars. So perfectly good cars with years of use will be destroyed, and more energy will be used to produce new cars. Even if the new cars use less gas, will any energy be saved?
But the economy will be stimulated and jobs will be saved. Environmental benefits are so poorly understood by the public that people will also believe that it's good for the environment. Perhaps there's some long term benefit as some of the replaced cars would've been well beyond a reasonable use life but the cars that are qualifying as efficient really aren't that efficient, it's clearly a clever political ploy.
If we wanted to benefit the environment, we would focus on synthetic carbon negative fuels that could be used in these vehicles whereby their inefficiency will help remove the carbon from the atmosphere. Of course such next generation bio-fuels can't be our only source of energy as there just isn't enough biomass, but synthetic carbon neutral fuel can be made directly from a clean energy source such as solar, CO2 and H2O as Sandia Labs has done.
