green energy home Frequently Asked Questions
A couple questions about home work out bikes that produce energy into a battery "green"?
How much energy can you actually get into a battery for usefulness? How long compared to how much and for what?
How much does this cost? Can you make it yourself? Is there a company producing them?
also I may be living with a household of guys and so I think we could spend a lot of time on that bike is there a way I could get a lot of energy this way like a larger battery or mutliple or something?
and is there any good battery technology out there and is any better coming out?
Even though he's just about right on the money with what the previous poster said, even reducing your energy needs by what you ride that energy bike for would be of benefit to all of us. If everyone in a family of four took a turn on the bike, for 20 minutes a day, they'd not only save a little bit in energy, they'd also be in better health, which in turn would save them money on future medical bills as well! There's always other factors to consider as well. If everyone did this, and if everyone put up a solar hot water heater on their roof, plus two to four solar electric panels, plus used CFL and LED bulbs in most of their homes, we could shut down the oil fired power plants forever that we already have, reduce the amount of pollution in the atmosphere and create over 1 to 3 million new jobs in the process, possibly even more, plus make the environment better, reduce long term health costs, etc.
Question about making a whole town go green. ?
Okay..Last night I was thinking long and hard about what I could do to make my town better. I thought that if I go from home to home with fluorescent light bulbs around town that would save a ton of energy. I know the bulbs are expensive and everything but i would buy them in huge amounts and get a ton of money off the price. But my question is how much money and energy would my town be saving if atleast 3000 people put fluorescent light bulbs in their houses. I'm thinking just 1 bulb. there's 12600 people in my town.
Have a look at the transition town network to find ways you can build on your idea and any existing local schemes (that people often don't know about) http://www.transitiontowns.org/
Many areas already have schemes to give away compact florecent bulbs eg the Energy Savings Trust. and electric companies can find it cheaper than building a new powerplant, depending on their local agreements and targets.
the money and energy saved will be a simple sum based on your local energy costs and local usage (eg dark and rainey or suney desert climate) times the number of bulbs
