Roman Coin Cleaning Help/Tips!?
ok so for a school project i have to clean this old Roman coin.. it's really green and ive tried a lot of stuff to clean it and NOTHING works!!!! i really need help so if anyone has tips on a method that actually works.. help!
i know a lot of people say that your not supposed to clean old coins. but thats not an option for me. i have to clean it
you don't say what type of metal the coin is made of. I would first soak it in bleach water about 4 parts water to 1 part bleach. After about 15 minutes I would remove it from the bleach mixture and scrub it with a old tooth brush.
I think that will take the green off.
Good Luck
PS sorry you had to clean the coin because it does lower the value.
First Timer on the Alto Saxophone! Have Questions!!?
So I had to pick an instrument to play at school. I picked the Saxophone, because firstly there weren't ALOT of saxophone players. And because My teacher asked me "nicely" if I may take the saxophone.
1. Firstly.. Should I buy my own Saxophone? I'm in Grade 7 and I got a used Alto Sax. Its all scratched up, old, not clean, and it doesn't play as good as other sax's play. Also I have no cleaning tools, or a neck thingy.
2. My friend also plays Sax and says that if you dont clean your sax, there will be lots of green mold, and if you inhale it, you will get seriously sick. Is this true?!
3. What are the 5 basics notes of the saxophone??
THANKS!
1. How shiny your sax is has nothing to do with how good it is. The main thing on a used sax is to make sure the pads are still good and are covering the holes correctly. Your teacher or a music store can help you figure out if your pads are ok.
2. I taught band for 16 years and never saw mold inside a sax. However, I frequently saw mold on the back of reeds because students would not take the reed off as instructed. If you leave your reed on all the time, it will never dry and become a little mold farm. Make sure you remove your reed after playing. You can get a sax swap, which is a long fuzzy thing that you put in your horn when it is in the case. It will absorb any water in the horn and help protect your pads from water (spit). The swap is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.
Good luck
