full hybrid cars Frequently Asked Questions
Does anyone really know the truth about rising gas prices?
While the oil companies claim billions in profits as a slap in the face to consumers, I have yet to hear the real reason for the economically crippling price gouging. People blame it on Bush and the war and I'm not buying it. If the profits are so great, why aren't they fixing our refineries that are not running to full capacity? Is it just greed? Also, I would love one of those hybrid cars but they are not priced low enough for the people that need them the most. Intellegent answers welcome.
First, before addressing this issue, would just like to mention that while living in Japan, I was paying more than $6.00 a gallon for gasoline, this was in 1995.
Before anyone starts shouting greed, maybe you should do a little research. I will cite one source, but there are many, and I noticed very little variation between them here's the breakdown on one gallon of gas at $3.00 a gallon.
Gasoline Retailer $.01 cents per gallon
Oil Company $.08 cents per gallon
Refining $.29 cents per gallon
Marketing/Distribution $.32 cents per gallon
Taxes $.59 cents per gallon
Cost of crude $1.71 per gallon (delivered)
2009 Camry Hybrid Question?
I'm looking to buy a Camry hybrid within the next week or two. I know demand is very high right now, but is there any chance that I can avoid paying full sticker price on this car? It's close to the end of the month right? I heard it was better to buy a car towards the end of the month because dealers have to meet quotas and if they haven't met them yet they are willing to work with you. I can pay in cash if that helps.
The trick would be to find a dealer who actually has one, can get one readily, or doesn't have a waiting list.
Any dealer with a waiting list knows you have no bargaining power because the demand is there.
Also, might I suggest you consider the Nissan Altima Hybrid-- It also uses the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive (Nissan licensed it from Toyota), uses a similar 2.5L engine, has about the same amount of interior space as the Camry Hybrid, and gets about the same fuel economy. But the Altima Hybrid qualifies for a $2200 Federal Tax Credit while the Camry Hybrid qualifies for $0.
That's a nice chunk of change right there, for essentially the same car.
Hope this helps.
