electric vehicles conversion Frequently Asked Questions
What if I feed my current car steroids? Will it improve the MPG?
If I can't afford a new Hybrid or electric, I can't afford to put myself in the same bad situation by getting yet another regular gas mileage car like my current one, and I just can't afford to keep spending on this expensive gas, then maybe steroids in the gas tank will make the car meaner, more aggressive, and give me seriously awesome gas mileage.
It'd be way cheaper than spending a few thousand on the "electric car conversion kit" for the vehicle anyway.
It'd be cheaper but it also wouldn't do anything.
Can I do this? What if they need to repossess my car?
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to make modifications to a car before I'm done making payments on it. Basically, I want to buy a new car and convert it to an electric vehicle. Am I allowed to do that? I was also wondering what would happen if the bank needed to repossess my car for whatever reason, and find it halfway through the conversion process.
So I just want to know, what can and can I not do?
You can modify it if you want to. IT is your car, with the bank as a lienholder. If you get it reposessed, the same things will happen to you that happen to everyone in this situation.
The bank will auction it off. The sale price is deducted from the balance of your loan. You will still have to pay off the rest - plus tow fees, auction fees, repo fees etc.
You wont be able to finance a car for a very long time - since this thing is now worth 20% of its original value and you owe a ton for it. You get to pay for the car for another 4-5 yrs, and not have a car to show for it.
But, to address the original Q - yes, you may modify a car you are purchasing on finance. You cannot do this on a lease, however.
