I am thinking of getting into remote control car racing and need some advice?
I am a pure beginner and am looking to buy my first remote control car, I am aware that there are a few different scales and types such as 1;10 and 1:8 e.t.c, but am getting a bit confused as their seems tobe loads of conflicting information, I have spoken to a few people and they have said i may be better going for a electric to begin with and then increase into petrol rc cars. Basically i am looking for some impartical advice, and possible prices that it will cost me to get onto the racing scene. Cheers
to be honest I would stick to an electric car - not because you need to be better to drive a petrol car, but because more places race them. Petrol cars spurt crap out of the exhaust all over the track so fewer and fewer rc car clubs allow them on their tracks. I have a CEN petrol rc car and none of my local clubs want to know, but i do have a HUGE car park 5 minutes down the road and you quite often see others there with their petrol cars.
Find out about local clubs and go down when they are meeting up and see what everyone else has - to be fair the electric ones are pretty quick - you just need to buy a few batteries and get a 12V car battery so that you can charge them up while using the others
