How many people accidentally fill their diesel cars with petrol?
It is an easy mistake to make when the fuel pumps are not clearly labelled. At a Shell Service Station near me both petrol and diesel are called "V-Power", the petrol is called "V-Power unleaded" to distinguish it from the diesel. I thought that diesel does not contain lead so why is the word "petrol" not used? There is a space for the word "petrol" near the nozzle. The hoses are all black. The BP Service Station has green hoses for petrol, black for diesel and has clear labels.
In the U.S. it takes a bit of stupidity or at least gross inattention as ALL diesel hoses here are green while gasoline (petrol) hoses are black. There IS something to be said for standardization.
Which engine is more economic if one it's a petrol V8 and the second it's a diesel V10 ?
I have to buy a car and I can choose between a V8 petrol porsche cayenne S and a V10 diesel Volkswagen toareg.I know that this two cars have allmost the same horse power.
The diesel might be more fuel efficient but when you factor in the added cost for the diesel lump it may take many years to amortize the added cost with fuel savings. If you put a LOT of miles on, go with the diesel. Otherwise, stick with the petrol lump.
