How can i get 120V to power a couple of par can lamps without being plugged into the wall?
preferably light and cheap...i've been thinking about making a battery circuit but what types of batteries would be best?
if u could get a hold of 10 x car batterys x 12 volt = 120 volts
you would need to make a safe place to put them.....
but safety in mind, i would look around for a similar bulb of lower voltage, that may work for you..say 12 volt halogen from a car.. it would be quite easy for most technicians to swap the bulb holders..
What is the best battery to buy for high voltage applications?
I have a couple of motors that usually run on 110-120 volts. Is there a battery or battery combination I can buy that would at least decently power the motors and somewhere around the range of 8-15 amps? If so, where?
I suspect your motor is AC (alternating current) and not DC (direct current). If you plug the motor into a wall outlet, then it is AC, and a battery won't power it without using an inverter that would change the battery output from DC to AC. If there is a nameplate on the motor, check it to make sure.
The "best" battery depends on the application. Most types of batteries produce about one to two volts per cell, so with any type of battery, you would need to have enough cells (about 60 to 100 cells depending on type) connected in series to add up to the rated voltage of the motor. You can use a DC-DC converter which will convert low battery voltage to higher DC voltage, but there are losses in the coversion.
The motor, at its rated load, would draw about 1000 to 1800 watts of power. This is a lot of power (probably too much power) for typical, practical battery applications.
