Can electric Trams really be more harmful than cars ?
cars produce carbon monoxide which is really harmful , so i don't usually use vehicles whenever i can, instead, i use the tram. But is it true that electric power stations -the provide electricity to trams- consume more oil to be converted to electricity than that cars consume for its own fuel conversion ????

Whow lots of myths and misconceptions here.
First how are you measuring pollution. A diesel bus pollutes more than a car. Its bigger and has a bigger engine. It consumes more fuel and therefore more fuel is turned into carbon dioxide (some carbon monoxide too but that is partly what catalytic converters are for.)
BUT
The bus carries more people so the amount of pollution per passenger mile will definitely go down. The break even point between a bus and a car pollution may be 5 to 10 passengers.
Now look at electric trains and buses. Electric vehicles produce no pollution where they operate. Pollution controls are more easily placed where the electricity is produced, in a stationary location. Electric vehicles are 4 to 5 times more efficient than a gas or diesel vehicle. But even if an electric bus is 100 times the size as your car it produces no pollution in the operation of the vehicle.
An internal combustion engine requires a steady running RPM to be most efficient. Generators that produce electricity do this but car engines are rarely operating at their most efficient, especially in cities. Every time a car brakes it loses energy, but an electric vehicle can capture that energy and use it to start again.
It is unlikely that your local city is generating its own electricity for the tram system by burning oil. Most likely it is using the grid system with may vary locally but nationally is about 48% from burning coal. It may be burning coal in its own power plant. The combination of an electric vehicle and a coal burning plant is less polluting than a gas burning car. This is even before you consider the pollution caused by oil refineries and the electricity they use to get the fuel in the first place. Hello, I'm doing a science fair project on an electric bike conversion, and I'm planning to convert it by myself. But I'm a relative beginner, so can anybody advise me on what battery/motor to use in order to produce the most efficiency? How many batteries? How much would the battery and motor cost?
Also, do I have anything else to buy?

If you want to take the easy route, there are kits available to convert a regular bike to electric.
You can use sealed lead acid (SLA), nickel metal hydride (NiMh), or lithium ion batteries. SLA are cheapest and have the shortest lifespan, lithium ion are most expensive and last longest. They generally use something on the order of one 36V12ah battery.
Generally the motor is in the neighborhood of 400-500 Watts.
Depending mostly on what kind of battery you choose, the whole thing can cost anywhere from $300 to $2000.
