Are there any electric car clubs in Metro Detroit?
I am looking to make my first electric car and I will need some help . I am looking to find an electric car club or at least some people in the Oakland county MI area that own or have built electric cars .
The nearest one I found is the Michigan chapter of the Electric Auto Association, located in Ann Arbor. If there are EV people in your area, there's a good chance you'll find them at an EAA meeting. There are always several electric cars to look at in the parking lot of those meetings, and the people are happy to show & tell you all about them.
Another good thing to do would be to post in the EV forums on that site. http://michiganeaa.org/

Nitro vs Electric RC Hobby car, big differences?
I really want to get into RC hobby cars and buying one would be my first one, but I don't want to spend hours beyond hours per week/month or so tuning and working on them. I'm going to mainly be using it in our back yard which is about 5 acres of grass and dirt, no mud. Which would suit me better, nitro or electric? I don't mind learning a bit about them and tuning them every so often, I just don't want to feel like I've re-built it, piece by piece all the time. Electric seem easy enough, but how much more difficult is a nitro to maintain then an electric?
If rc cars are in any bit the same as rc planes then get electric. I have both and always find myself flying my electric. no fuel, no start up tools, no hassle, just plug and play.
I would go electric just cuz its easier to maintain .
