I want to use a 3 phase UPS with conns on the back IN- E,N & L1 L2 L3, OUT-L,N,E how do i wire it for uk mains
I have an old MkII Chloride power UPS that i wish to use as a generator backup for mains appliances. I believe it to be/support a 3 phase system, however i am not 100 percent sure what this is. Can i wire it to the mains by using just L1 N and earth connection to charge it? Ignoring L2 and L3 inputs?

I would expect you could any one of L1,L2,L3 together with earth and neutral.
Check that you have the three windings L1 to N, L2 to N, L3 to N by using a meter (measure resistance of the windings, not really interested in the value just that the winding is complete)
Obviously the rating of just one winding will be one third of the three phase rating of the ups
Also check the voltage rating of the unit, do NOT connect a voltage greater than the rated voltage
If the voltage rating is 415 volts that is phase to phase for 3 phase
the single phase value (L1,2 or 3) to N will be 240 volts
