I'm really big into being environmentally friendly, and I'm thinking about whether or not I'd like to make a career out of something like that.
My dad is an engineer, so of course he suggested Green Engineering/Architecture, but that's not really my thing. I'm not very good at math, either, and I'm pretty sure that you should be if you're an engineer.
What other types of jobs are there in the green industry?
There is a large market in English for people interested in pursuing professional writing careers. Personally, I am pursuing a degree (and a career) in editing geared towards environmental publications. If you like to write or edit literature that would be a great job. There is also the political side, the educational side, and there are thousands of industries such as textiles, logging, clothing, and various hobbies that are looking for people to guide them to more sustainable practices. If you're not good at math (And I'm not either, which is why I'm not pursuing Marine Biology!) I would recommend going for a public relations kind of job, or one rooted in English. You can always call companies you enjoy and ask if they have any recommendations.
If architecture is an art why the owner can paint in chocking pink your design?
Some days ago I pass a building that was made of exposed concrete (without paint). The owner paint the entire building in an horrible green (mint). Can you imagine a person that buy a Monet paint only to be use as canvas for another paint? In what way are the architects the owners of their desings?

Can you imagine the Sydney Opera House painted in Yellow or a building of Frank Gehry with the titanium cladding removed? Or what about White House painted in gray.
It really depends on the contract that the Architect has with the Client. I can imagine that Frank Gehry might have a clause that they can't modify the intent of the structure, but I have no idea, but since Frank is such a high profile name, no person in their right mind would modify his design and loose its integrity, but cause they paid for the name/celebrity.
However, in more mainstream architecture jobs, the architect will typically own the "drawings". This prevents people from paying for his design, and then taking those drawings and basically reproducing them exactly to use on other projects/sites. However, the building itself, the architect has no future say in what is done with it.
As for a mere paint job, that is something typically regulated by the city/town/county in which that building is located. Many cities, all of the ones that I have dealt with in California, require any sort of major paint job (other that repainting a building in its original color scheme) to go through the planning department. The architect/owner with at that point have to present paint samples to the city for their approval prior to painting.
If you dislike the building that much, you may always go to the planning department in that city and inquire if they had indeed approved the building paint job or if they even require such measures.
If your view of architecture is merely as art (which I don't argree) then you must also agree that art is subjective.
