why is research into the use of alternative energy resources for electrical generation is so important?
1. Hydrocarbons take millions of year to form, so we only have a limited supply.
2. The haves and the have nots. Some countries are hydrocarbon limited ( like Japan ) so they are at the mercy of other countries to sell them petrol. Some counties are hydrocarbon rich ( like saudi arabia and region ). Many countries are dependent on them for their fuel. Just the talk within OPEC of limiting their production will increase the price of oil.
3. Those who do not have, covet those who do. Some county ( which will remain nameless, lol ) will invade other countries to get their oil, oops I mean terrorists.
4. Food. You cant use food stock to produce alternative fuel. If you do, the price of food goes up because you are limiting supply.
5. Supply and demand. There may come a time when the demand for power will outrun the production.
6. Pollution: Hydrocarbons and a large portion of the pollutants in the air.
I am sure there are more.
Why is President Obama always saying he is going to change the face of America?
Does anybody think the face of America needs to be changed? In what way? Energy use? Give us a viable alternative. We'll use it. Do we want health care like MA has? Its broke and they are refusing to cover 2.6% which are legal (legal) immigrants. Is this what we want? The people in MA have had to buy supplemental policies on top of the state care.
Would he act any differently if he hated America? Nah.
I know one way he'll change it. With all the windmills he's proposing (by GE - one of the Top Ten Toxic Pollutes of the Nation), they're already killing the birds of prey which are currently on the endangered species list, and if they become extinct, US will be overrun with rodents and insects like we've never seen. But B.O. wants windmills. The guy is an idiot.
