How do I build a model hydrogen fuel car?
I have a project to do in school about alternative energy. We have to build a model of some sort of energy source. I picked hydrogen fuel car. How should i build one, get a kit, start from scratch, if i start from scratch how can i build it.
Hydrogen cars are complex and not easy to build without specific technical knowledge.
You will need a source of hydrogen gas, you will need a way to transfer that gas into useful energy.. e.g., momentum to wheels, (I say it this way because it may not be just an engine) and then wheels, etc.
There are two typical designs for hydrogen cars -- one with an internal combustion engine that runs on hydrogen (think a typical automobile that runs on hydrogen instead of gasoline) and a fuel cell.
The fuel cell produces electricity directly from turning hydrogen and oxygen into water. The electricity is used to power an electric motor that powers the car.
Both are very complex systems..
Now, the easiest and maybe even cheapest way would be a fuel cell kit. I hate to advocate any commercial source but I have put a link below that is for a fuel cell car kit that is solar powered. The kit costs $140 so it is not cheap. Btw another product in the same online store is just the fuel cell for $70-80. (I only know about the kits because I ran across these several months ago when I was looking for a birthday present for a 13 yr old friend. )
Would you boycott Car companies for putting out more combustion engines?
It makes no sense for them to keep produceing combustion engines when the whole world agrees they cause a global problem. It makes no sense to keep burning up our atmospere when we can use all alternative forms of energy that don't harm the environment. In stead they make more combustion engienes or expect us to buy hybrids that don't really get good gas millage and unrealistic hydrogen viehicals when there are many ways of producing non-combustion eingines, but the people with the means don't care to change there habits. I think we all should boycott car companies until they get the point what are you thoughts on this?
Not sure you mean that we should boycott companies who produce both combustion engines and other engines. If a company produces a car that runs on batteries that it charges up with solar cells all over the upper surface, or solar cells on my house roof, but also produces cars with combustion engines, we should boycott their solar powered car? This would be to teach them not to develop solar powered cars?
Perhaps we could just buy the solar powered cars and forget what else the company makes. It might give the message we want a bit more clearly.
